March 1, 2012 at 3:13 AMMy main focus for March is to decorate our entrance hall! Currently what it says about me is that I don’t finish things… (true, but not the impression I want to give!) It is about to become a vibrant colour and I’ve just painted a small gothic framed mirror in a colourful boho style. We need to have coat and shoe storage, so I’m having to think how best to make that pretty or hide it behind a cheerful curtain.
The trouble with making things look nice is that things which I never used to notice, like the thermostat, become ugly eyesores! I suppose my style is closest to the last one, with bright colours and eclectic unusual objects. I really like that twisty wood table 🙂

March 1, 2012 at 8:24 AMI love that last image, too! Isn’t that wood table to die for? Sounds like our styles are similar! I have a gothic mirror that was a wedding gift to my parents in 1966.. between my mom first and then me, it has probably been painted 10 different colors over the years.
You can hide your thermostat by buying a 1-2″ deep canvas or wood plaque to hang over it– or put that canvas/plaque on hinges! I’ve been seeing lots of posts on other blogs just within the last day or so about styling entries, so you should be able to find lots of inspiration. 😉

March 1, 2012 at 3:04 PMWouldn’t covering it impair the function though? I don’t want my home getting too cold, or too hot, just through vanity! I plan to hide the fuse box behind a curtain. I have seen similar ugly/functional things given really elaborate frames as if to celebrate them, I might try something like that 🙂
