OK, who is willing to confess to watching the Red Carpet shows for the Oscars on Sunday? Some of those celebs just know how to make an entrance! ( Um.. Angeline Jolie’s leg, anyone?! ) Using eye-catching artwork in your home’s entry can create a welcoming impact, giving guests an instant idea of your style.
So let’s see.. are you..
Earthy Mod?
Modern Femme?
Contemporary Glam?
Spirited Minimalist?
Elegantly Graphic?
Provocative Funk?
Is your entrance making a true “you” statement?

February 29, 2012 at 10:48 AMThe Oscar fashions are always better than the awards themselves! The hot pink entrance at the very top of the post would be in my winning envelope.

February 29, 2012 at 11:20 AMI rarely watch the award shows themselves.. usually just catch the fashion via the internet the next day, since it’s all I really care about! I’m not surprised you love the pink entry, M.A.! 😉

February 29, 2012 at 8:09 PMEarthy mod all the way! Not suprisingly, given the nature of my work 🙂 I’ll admit that I don’t watch the Oscars due to my lack of cable, but I love checking out the dresses in People magazine and celeb blogs!! Great inspiration for new dress styles and what looks hot!

March 1, 2012 at 3:13 AMMy main focus for March is to decorate our entrance hall! Currently what it says about me is that I don’t finish things… (true, but not the impression I want to give!) It is about to become a vibrant colour and I’ve just painted a small gothic framed mirror in a colourful boho style. We need to have coat and shoe storage, so I’m having to think how best to make that pretty or hide it behind a cheerful curtain.
The trouble with making things look nice is that things which I never used to notice, like the thermostat, become ugly eyesores! I suppose my style is closest to the last one, with bright colours and eclectic unusual objects. I really like that twisty wood table 🙂

March 1, 2012 at 8:24 AMI love that last image, too! Isn’t that wood table to die for? Sounds like our styles are similar! I have a gothic mirror that was a wedding gift to my parents in 1966.. between my mom first and then me, it has probably been painted 10 different colors over the years.
You can hide your thermostat by buying a 1-2″ deep canvas or wood plaque to hang over it– or put that canvas/plaque on hinges! I’ve been seeing lots of posts on other blogs just within the last day or so about styling entries, so you should be able to find lots of inspiration. 😉

March 1, 2012 at 3:04 PMWouldn’t covering it impair the function though? I don’t want my home getting too cold, or too hot, just through vanity! I plan to hide the fuse box behind a curtain. I have seen similar ugly/functional things given really elaborate frames as if to celebrate them, I might try something like that 🙂

March 1, 2012 at 3:27 PMAs long as the “cover” fit loosely enough and allowed air to circulate, I think it would be fine. But I love your idea of framing it!
