Wishing You a Happy, Artsy Christmas!

Merry Christmas, Artsies!  I couldn’t let this day go by without taking a moment to wish you more peace and love than your heart can handle.  I am so thankful for the gifts of your time, attention and companionship as I wander down this journey.  Spend today knowing that you are dear to me, each and every one.

This Artsy Life: Weekend 51 [‘Tis the Season]

Well, Artsies, I trust you’re either fully prepared for tomorrow’s festivities or up to your eyeballs in preparations!  Here in the Forager house, we’re somewhere in between.. I still have some Christmas brunch prep to do and will be heading out soon to brave the post office, so today’s This Artsy Life post will be short and sweet.

We had a beautiful blanket of snow covering the ground for most of the weekend, just in time for Christmas!  Nothing like crisp air and fresh snow to get you in the mood!  Here’s just a few snaps from our weekend..

PS– Between now & New Year’s, I’ll be taking a little break to get organized and prepped for what I think will be a busy and exciting year!  I’ll still have an daily artist post going up and one final This Artsy Life, but no extras until 2014.  You guys will all be too busy to hang around your computers anyhow! 😉

    Artsy Holiday: Casey Matthews

Mr. Forager & I have been going back and forth about what type of meals we’ll have on Christmas Day.  It’s just the two of us and while that’s never stopped us from making elaborate meals before, we’re thinking a sweet little brunch and then a bit of antipasto later.  But no matter how simple the holiday meal, it always feels more festive when the table is set in an artful way!  So if you’re like me and still figuring out your holiday tablescape, here’s a little inspiration from this month’s Featured Artist Casey Matthews

I mean, those greens are just calling out holiday cheer like nobody’s business!  Add in a judicious dollop of snowy white, rich jewel tones and glittery metallics and you’ll have a table scape perfect for celebrating the season.  Casey’s painting Sitting Pretty at The End of the World is full of delicious shape and color, a Casey inspired table can’t help but sit pretty, too!

If you’d like to see more artsy holiday inspiration, please take a peek at my Artsy Holiday Pinterest board, where I’ve been gathering all sorts of inspiring holiday images, DIYs and just plain prettiness.  To see more of Casey Matthews‘ work, please visit her website.

  • Have Yourself an Artsy Little Christmas

Merry Christmas, Artsies!  I hope you all enjoy a wonderful holiday filled with peace and love.  Here’s a lovely little video of artist Steven DaLuz‘s Watchers Series, currently on exhibit at Anarte Gallery in San Antonio.  The imagery and music are a perfect, quiet reflection for this holy night.

Artsy Dwelling: Decking Halls and Such

I LOVE this time of year.  It’s a few weeks out of our lives that we take the time to beautify our surroundings, making sure everything sparkles with a holiday glow.  We all become artists, creating vignettes of tinsel and holly,  making our homes magical for our loved ones, our children, ourselves.  A wonderful trend that I’m seeing is holiday decorating that is inspired by what we love to surround ourselves with every day. ( Oh, there’s still room for those homemade childhood ornaments! )

I thought it would be fun to pair some beautifully decorated Christmas trees with a work of art.  I’m no stranger to art-inspired tree decorating, take a look at these trees I decorated for the gallery where I was working a few years ago.  Just goes to show, any piece of art can inspire your holiday decor.  So let’s deck our Artsy halls!

Hope you’re inspired to think about your art collection when decorating for the holidays.  If it’s too late for this year, there’s always 2012.. it will be here before we know it!
