You may remember photographer Scott Newett’s Solo Man image from my Art to Inspiration post last week. It’s really one of the most striking images I’ve seen in a long time. While perusing his website, I was struck by how carefully composed each image is, like a still from a Wes Anderson movie scene. I couldn’t help but feature him over on Escape Into Life today. This hipster had me at hello.
Tracy Geilbert at Gallery Orange in New Orleans has a fantastic eye for art. It isn’t any wonder that many of my faves have come from her gallery or made their way into it! Today on Escape Into Life, I’m featuring an incredible young figurative artist, Aaron Reichert, whose work can be seen in person at Gallery Orange. I think you’ll love his graphic portraits!
There are certain artists’ work that I am just dying to see in person.. Yellena James’ work is definitely near the top of that list! But since I’m far away from anywhere she’s currently exhibiting, today I’m settling for featuring her over on Escape Into Life. Head on over and check out her amazingly beautiful drawings!

There are artists whose work just sticks with me. I still remember when I first saw the work of Sean Mahan, way back during my gallery days in Florida. We all loved his work, but it wasn’t quite the right fit for the more conservative, corporate-ish gallery I was working in. So when I happened to see his work featured over on The Art Cake, I was super excited for him. He has such a unique style and vision, I just had to share his work with the Escape Into Life readers today. Please take a little jaunt over to EIL to see more!

There are certain galleries that I’ve found are treasure troves of artists whose work appeals to me. Skidmore Contemporary in Los Angeles is one of my go-to galleries for fantastic contemporary realism. So far, I’ve featured three of their artists and more to come. Today’s Artist Watch feature on Escape Into Life is the latest Skidmore artist whose work captured me, Dennis Ziemienski. So retro, so fresh, so California.
I love it when fans of an artist’s work remind me to feature them! So of course, I had a V-8ish slap-myself-on-the-forehead moment when the Managing Editor at Escape Into Life saw me post on Twitter about Christina Baker’s work and reminded me how awesome it would be to feature her over there.
