Kuzana Ogg Flash Sale This Week!

It’s rare to begin a Monday feeling so excited, ya’ll, but I can’t help it! Not only am I sharing the work of this amazing artist, who I’ve been following since Erin & I featured her work in an Art Association way back when, but it is all on SALE this week in my Great.ly boutique gallery!! California artist Kuzana Ogg layers on translucent patterns to create paintings that seem to float with effervescence.

Interrupted patterns, shifting perspectives, and deep color create surfaces that are complex despite the simple imagery. Underlayers peek out on occasion, so that are treated to an intriguing glimpse of the artist’s process, leaving us wanting to know what lies beneath.

Summer Lovin’. Belinda Marshall #makegood

Surprise!! I know a few days ago I shared that I would be slowing things down a bit for a while, but then I heard about the #makegood Great.ly campaign and well, I just had to join in! If you don’t know about Great.ly, it is a super fabulous site where artists and artisans AKA Makers stock an online “studio” with work from which “tastemakers” ( bloggers like me & other influential folks ) fill their Great.ly boutiques and share the work with their readers.

Already there are lots of incredible Makers on the site and I wanted to pop in and introduce you to one of my favorites, Melbourne artist Belinda Marshall. Belinda creates these gorgeously sunny and happy abstracts teeming with color. With their bright popsicle palettes, these babies are my summer love affair!

Artsy Happening: Celebrating the First Ever White House Maker Faire with Great.ly!

Three posts in one day?! What’s going on? I’ll tell you what– I am joining with the folks at Great.ly to celebrate the first ever White House Maker Faire! America has always been a creative nation, but in recent years, as technology has become accessible, we’ve seen the rise of a Maker’s Movement, creating opportunity where there were once just dreams. Today, the White House celebrates our #nationofmakers and so do I!

Live the Artsy: Deb Haugen

Home has been a subject in the forefront of our minds lately. Over the next several years, Mr. F and I are saving like mad so that we can settle down and build a little house that fits our needs and our aesthetic perfectly. What might that aesthetic be, you ask? Well, it has a lot in common with the work of this month’s Featured Artist, Deb Haugen— fresh and organic, yet modern.

In her work, Deb, a California-girl, balances that lovely line between the modern and organic, often employing watery, free flowing colored forms dotted with graphic ink drawing. Translating her work into a living space means lots of white walls and furnishings dotted with pops of muted color and warmed with natural textures and graphic punches of black.

A space like this is just dying for a post-beach fire, wine, and conversation!
